The BOW Model 532 was created to combine an efficient, safe cleaning operation with fast precision stacking of 1/4 inch tape on a wide variety of reels. The 532 was designed to handle reel sizes from 7inches to 10 1/2 inches in diameter with a 5/16 inch diameter drive hole. Tissue cleaning stations and a sapphire blade, proven time and again to be the most effective cleaning system, remove debris from both sides of the tape. Downstream, a uniquely designed packwheel delivers a straight, perfectly centered stack on both plastic and metal reels. With the optional optical inspector (725 option) the user can establish a fail criteria to weed out bad tapes and save valuable tapes.

The BOW Model 5320 Certifier unit is simply a Model 532 with heads positioned in the tape path after the cleaning stations, and electronics to certify. In the test mode, a signal is recorded onto the tape and immediately played back for the dropout detectors to display an error count. By setting an appropriate dropout fail criteria, the operator can discriminate your scrap tapes from good ones that have been tested specifically for your application.

Pack Roller

Precision disc, which precisely guides and presses air from tape layers to provide a uniform stack on the take-up reel (wind direction).

Stack Quality

Precision stack that meets requirements of NSA L14-2. Accomplished by a large diameter packwheel (pack roller) with 180 wrap.

Tape Low Sensing

Automatically determines the hub diameter and stops the tape with a selectable amount of tape left on the supply reel.

Tape Absence Sensing

Stops tape drive when tape is not present in tape path.

MODEL 5320

STANDARD FEATURES

The Model 5320 includes all of the 532 standard features plus the following test features.

Test Format

4 Track, IRIG or 5 Track.

Test Frequency

User specified between 20 KHz and 1 MHz.

Controls

Toggle switch for TEST (on/off). Dip switches to verify each track's dropout operation separately. Dip switches to select duration.

Dropout Counters

Two separate 4 digit LED totals. One for edge tracks and the other for center tracks.

Dropout Duration

Three selectable ranges (X1, X2 and X4). X1 adjustable from 1 F sec. When X1 = 1 F sec, X2 = 2 F sec and X4 = 4 F sec, etc. Range extends from 1 to 150 F sec.

Threshold

Adjustable from 0 to 100% via an indicating precision 10-turn dial potentiometer.

None required

Erase head

D.C. erase to at least -50 db before recording
